The Natspec National Conference is an annual two-day specialist FE and SEND conference. It took place on 9–10 June 2026 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole, NEC, Birmingham.

It is the biggest national event for professionals working with high-needs learners across the FE sector in England and Wales, focused on helping delegates understand major FE and SEND reforms, including qualifications, skills policy, inspection changes and the SEND reform programme.

The event includes keynote speakers, panels, breakout sessions, networking, an exhibition and student contributions through performances, speeches and volunteering. Attendees leave with stronger connections, clearer understanding of reform, and practical ideas to support high-quality education and training.

About Our Breakout Session:

Our breakout session titled “Specialist FE: the launchpad to employment” was delivered by Toby Connick, Head of Inclusive Careers.

Further Education is often the final phase of education for learners with SEND. This practical workshop explored how colleges can use this time to secure the best possible employment and life outcomes for young people with a range of SEND and Additional Needs.

We looked at a range of different routes into work, what meaningful progress looks like for different learners, and how providers can support confidence, skills development, travel, employer engagement, disability awareness and planning for successful transitions.
